A confrontation between secular intellectuals and conservative Christians regarding the Zuruwaha has lead to the creation of a new law, the “Muwaji Law” and “Hakani" – a film portraying the Zuruwaha people committing acts of infanticide. By introducing a morally compelling argument, cultural activism is reshaping and recasting hegemony, bewitching society into co-opting the imposition of a certain way of life, leading to the undue intrusions and surveillance of Indigenous peoples in Brazil.
